Jane Davenport Lady

Hi Everyone

Today I have a video on my YouTube channel of a lady in my Art Journal.

A few weeks ago Jane created some beautiful art (of course) at her book launch in Sydney.  I absolutely adored what she created and so I wanted to give it a try for myself.... which was loads and loads of fun.

Here is my video if you would like to watch.

I have used a variety of Jane Davenport products for my page which are listed below.  My Art Journal is by Dina Wakley and I'm using the Cotton Rag substrate.  I have put gesso on my page also.

Here is some pictures of my finished page:

Free as a Bird

Well it has been a while, but I managed to finally get another video created for my YouTube channel.

I've been having some trouble filming.... I record on my iPhone and it tends to cut out on me a lot.  So I have deleted a bunch of stuff to create more room, so hopefully the issue is no longer.

Here is my latest video.  Its a page that has been inspired by Shaunna Touby.  Shaunna is a fellow member of the Art Journals for Beginners group on Facebook.  Shaunna created an awesome page the other day with a cool looking bird on it.  So I wanted to create my own page with a birdy or two.

I've mostly used Dina Wakley Media products for my page along with a couple of other pens, like Sharpie Paint Pens, Jane Davenport paint over pens and my Faber Castelle Pitt pen. The Gold paint is from Golden.  I really enjoyed creating my birds.

Thanks for visiting my blog

Alcohol Inks and Foil

Hi Everyone

Today I have a video of a technique that I saw K Werner Design do last week! Its just too cool so I had to give it ago....

If you want to see the video from K Werner check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmA6gaCRgyE

So I used some Translucent Yupo Paper from Ranger.  and First of all I just dripped on my inks and then added some blending solution.  waited a bit for the alcohol to get a bit sticky and then added the foil.... TOO EASY!!

This is what I used:

Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink: Amethyst, Denim, Mermaid and Patina
Ranger: Blending Solution
Ranger: Translucent Yupo Paper
Impression Obsession Stamps: Wishing & Happy

All the products I used are available at Bev's Cross Crafts here in Tassie.  I've popped the links in so you can find them easier.  Happy Crafting

Mini Book Cover!

Hi Everyone!!

This video is a quick take on a class that I taught at Bev's Cross Crafts, which was to create your own Art Journal/Book Covers, Using Stone Paper.

In the class, we used a template that I created to draw out onto the stone paper and then we decorated it with Stamperia Rice Papers, Prima Paints and a bunch of other things.  Mixed Media is really a lot of fun, and the ladies that I taught all got messy and inky and had a great time!!

Bev, asked me to make this video for the people who were unable to attend my class and also for our Main land customers...  This video is a very condensed version of what we did in class, so if you went to class and are now watching, I'm sure you will find that I have done things a little different and I have also skipped over a few other things.  Anyway the video is just under 15 minutes long, and the class went for a whole day! You get the idea! There's only so much one can fit in!!

Here is a close up of the finished book, the front cover. If you would like to see it in person, call into the shop and it will be on display :-)

There was a variety of products that I have used to create my little A6 Book cover, and I will link as much as I can directly to Bev's Cross Crafts, so if you do want to purchase anything that I have used, then you have the direct link!!  Happy Shopping - I'm sure you will find loads of other goodies along the way! Now if there isn't a link to a direct product in the store, you can send an email bev@bevscrosscrafts.com.au or andrew@bevscrosscrafts.com.au or give us a call (03) 64273972 and we can arrange it for you.

Ok, so here is the list:

Stone Paper
Stazon Stamp Pad - Timber Brown
Tonic Scissors
Metal Ruler - Cork Back
Snug Hug Seam Binding - Chalk White
X-Press It - Workable Fixative

Art Journal Cover

Hi There Everyone

Ive made yet another Art Journal Cover.... I really do enjoy making these, they really are so much fun... I do have a few more planned, and hopefully one will even become a class that I will teach at my work... Bev's Cross Crafts.... well see!!

So for my Journal I have used, Stone Paper. Stone paper is a great product... 100% tree free so it is environmentally friendly.  Its also rip and tear resistant, you can also put it in the washing machine!!

For my Journal I have used Jane Davenport Collage Paper - I just love the colours and the images... They are beautiful.

After I glued my paper down I have used some yummy Prima Metallic Paints.... so pretty and the gold is called Ginger Sparks.  I've just rubbed that on with my finger all over the cover front and back and the middle.

The heavy gloss on the front is from Stamperia.... its high gloss.  But when I put it on my cover it did pick up a bit of the Mermaid Marker that I had used.... I did expect that, but I didn't think it would give a cloudy look.

Here is the middle....

I've also used a couple of Tim Holtz Stamps, just to add a little more interest...

This is the back....

The Being Creative Stamp is from Dark Room Door.....  and again I have just filled in the blank spaces with my paint,  I love how the collage paper has these little wrinkles in it..... it makes the journal cover look more older and well loved!

The Ribbon is just tied around the middle so I can then add my papers as I go.... or take them out... I didn't want to sew these ones in or put holes in my cover to tie.... The ribbon is just some seam binding that I have coloured with my Distress Ink pads and some Amsterdam Acrylic Ink in the deep gold.... Yum.

I love how this turned out.

People against the odds

Hi Everyone!

Today my journal page is for the #showusyourmedia challenge over on Dina Wakley's and Ranger Ink blogs. #rangerink

It's all about admire.... this got me thinking.... who do I admire the most.... and after my boss sent me a couple of videos yesterday it really came to me, I admire people who can still see the stars amongst complete darkness....

Really it's about people with disabilities and how they conquered their limitations.... I just can only hope that my little girl can do the same.... but I also know how lucky we are.... there really are worse people off than us, and I am amazed by things that they do each and everyday.

So here is my video if you would like to watch
