Art Journal Cover

Hi There Everyone

Ive made yet another Art Journal Cover.... I really do enjoy making these, they really are so much fun... I do have a few more planned, and hopefully one will even become a class that I will teach at my work... Bev's Cross Crafts.... well see!!

So for my Journal I have used, Stone Paper. Stone paper is a great product... 100% tree free so it is environmentally friendly.  Its also rip and tear resistant, you can also put it in the washing machine!!

For my Journal I have used Jane Davenport Collage Paper - I just love the colours and the images... They are beautiful.

After I glued my paper down I have used some yummy Prima Metallic Paints.... so pretty and the gold is called Ginger Sparks.  I've just rubbed that on with my finger all over the cover front and back and the middle.

The heavy gloss on the front is from Stamperia.... its high gloss.  But when I put it on my cover it did pick up a bit of the Mermaid Marker that I had used.... I did expect that, but I didn't think it would give a cloudy look.

Here is the middle....

I've also used a couple of Tim Holtz Stamps, just to add a little more interest...

This is the back....

The Being Creative Stamp is from Dark Room Door.....  and again I have just filled in the blank spaces with my paint,  I love how the collage paper has these little wrinkles in it..... it makes the journal cover look more older and well loved!

The Ribbon is just tied around the middle so I can then add my papers as I go.... or take them out... I didn't want to sew these ones in or put holes in my cover to tie.... The ribbon is just some seam binding that I have coloured with my Distress Ink pads and some Amsterdam Acrylic Ink in the deep gold.... Yum.

I love how this turned out.

People against the odds

Hi Everyone!

Today my journal page is for the #showusyourmedia challenge over on Dina Wakley's and Ranger Ink blogs. #rangerink

It's all about admire.... this got me thinking.... who do I admire the most.... and after my boss sent me a couple of videos yesterday it really came to me, I admire people who can still see the stars amongst complete darkness....

Really it's about people with disabilities and how they conquered their limitations.... I just can only hope that my little girl can do the same.... but I also know how lucky we are.... there really are worse people off than us, and I am amazed by things that they do each and everyday.

So here is my video if you would like to watch

Mermaid Of The Deep

Hi Everyone

Here is my latest video.  Today I have used my Dina Wakley Journal and some water colours.....

The water colour paper in Dina's journal is cotton rag, and when you wet it the colour seems to flow through to the other side.... it can make a bit of a mess.  So to help solve this problem I have used a water colour ground.... or in my case a primer. (same thing I think) there are loads about, but I do think the Daniel Smith Water colour ground is probably the one of the best out there.

Anyway so I've used my water colour primer from Cosmic Shimmer... this just covers the page with some tooth and also seals so none of the colour or water seeps back into the page and then it won't wreak any other work that you may have done.

Here are some pictures of the work a bit closer in detail....

Amazing what you can do with some Collage paper.... I really am not great at drawing... but I did manage the tail okay!!

The full page in my Journal....

So here is the list of what I used...

Dina Wakley Art Journal - Large
Cosmic Shimmer Water colour primer
Jane Davenport Bright water colour palette
Jane Davenport Aqua pastels
Jane Davenport Collage Paper - set 2
Jane Davenport Stamps
Jane Davenport Inkcredible Inks.... I've popped them into a colorbox stamp pad...
Golden Paint and Air Brush Medium
Jane Davenport Medium
Jane Davenport Epic Pen.... (Carbon ink pen it's water proof)

I think that's it!! Just about everything I have used is available at Bev's Cross Crafts in Tasmania!
