A Bunch of Scrapbooking Pages.....

Hey!! So it's been a little while since my last blog post.... I think its because I didn't have a need to blog, since we decided to close off Magnolia Down Under Challenges.  Life has been so free and easy - definitely a good decision.

Anyway, I have been busy crafting - scrapbooking!!  I have loads of pictures and now I feel like I can actually get in a do something I wanna do!!

This post has heaps of pictures....  I'm happy with my pages, even if my photo taking skills are BAD, Some of the details didn't really show up as good on some of the pages and they look a little wonky now that I have them up here on my blog - oh well.... you get the idea!!!

So this page is a double layout about Ruby's 4th Birthday... she was pretty keen on her cake!

Here is the second page of the layout....

This one is a family shot, we had our photo taken by a professional, in November last year... I love how this one turned out!

This one is an actual class I did at my local scrapbooking store in Devonport. So the idea isn't mine, but I love how it turned out and I did learn a few tricks and got some new ideas. All my pages seem to be coming out the same..... Anyway the night was loads of fun and I love how this page looks.

This next one is of Ruby on her first day of Kinder last year.... It's very cute photo.

This one is also from last year - Ruby's first athletic carnival....

And here she is, with a massive Lolly pop!!

Another First day of school....

and this is another Egg and Spoon race shot - where the egg kept on falling off!!

This pic is of 3 Ruby's.... they are all friends at school and this was taken at another little girls Birthday Party.

So there you go.... not a card in sight, but still I've had heaps of fun creating these pages for Ruby's album.

A 6th Birthday and a Goodbye

Hey Everyone!!

It's Magnolia Down Under Challenges 6th Birthday!! so this week we have a Birthday theme for our cards. My card is made for my niece who is turning 21 next week - so I hope she likes her card :-)

and now the very sad bit:

Now you may be wondering what the goodbye is about.... well... Magnolia Down Under Challenges is closing. Our Birthday Challenge is our last. This certainly hasn't been an easy decision for me and Kylie to make, in fact we have been tossing the idea up for a good 12 months.

Our lives are so busy with our children and of course normal day to day stuff.  Running a challenge blog, isn't as easy as what people may think! It takes a long time, time of which Kylie and I, would much rather be making something, than spending hours doing blog posts, and other numerous admin jobs. The past 6 months or so it has been increasingly difficult with all sorts of issues which are absolutely no fun - and we don't want that, crafting is meant to be fun, right?

Kylie has been in charge of the Challenge Blog for almost 5 years and me not much less. It has been so amazing the people we have met, who of course we would not have met if it wasn't for this challenge blog. These people are precious to us, and helped us through the good and the very bad times in our lives, which is why it has been so tough to decide to close. But we know, we will remain friends even after the challenge is gone, and continue to be there for each other. We are only a few clicks away even though we are 1000's of Kilometers apart.

My card is a gate fold and I've used Tilda from the London Collection, as my lovely niece was an Au Pair there for a wonderful family. Anyway I thought it suited her best! My papers are Kaiser Craft and my Dies are all Doo Hickey's. I've also used a Spellbinder die for my gold glitter card behind my circle.

Here is a peep of the inside, not much happening in there but a cute little tag with the Follow your heart sentiment from Stempelglede.

Thanks so much for being a part of my life Magnolia Down Under.... I really am blessed to have met some truly wonderful and loving people - some of which I have met in person. I am also thankful for the creative outlet this blog has given me, and I am grateful that I haven't been judged badly when my work was terrible! But we all have to start somewhere don't we? Keep Crafting and Stay Happy!!

What are little boys made of?

Hey

It's time for another Magnolia Down Under challenge. This fortnights theme is: Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails..... in other words - One for the Boys!!

So this was an actual challenge for me, because I just don't make boy cards!! I do have a few Edwin stamps in my collection, but basically they are just collected and not used LOL..... But this time I have used Edwin from the Little Moscow Circus - Black Knight Edwin.

As of late my colouring is not the best, but I guess I pass....

I have used flowers.... yep who said you cant use flowers on a boy card???? besides I think they suit rather well! I have also a Peacock feather, and a tree charm.  My Dies are Spellbinders for my image and the tree, fence and tag are all Doo Hickey's. The fence being the newest from the last Doo Hickey club 3. My papers are My Minds Eye - Oliver. The paper is pretty old I think.

So there you go, hope you will come along and play.

Valentines with No Red???

Say What?

How can you make a Valentines day card without any red on it? Well actually its rather easy!!! And fun. Think how much worse it could have been if the theme was: Valentines with no red or PINK EEECK!!!

Yep our theme at Magnolia Down Under this fortnight is - Valentines with a Twist, no red allowed!

Anyway for this fun type of valentines I used an old Tilda from the Butterfly collection. I masked the heart in from the last Christmas collection, although I think the idea was better in my head than how it actually came out... but anyway it was still pretty good.... I then used the cute spiral edge die from MFT and of course sprinkled the crap out of it with Frantage!

My cute little LOVE stamp is from Whimsy Stamps. and I also used a Kaiser Craft one which is under the love stamp and beside Tilda's head.

My papers are Prima and my flowers are from i am roses.com My wood butterfly is also Prima. My hear Chippy is from collections and I just painted it with crackle texture paint from Finnabair.

My dies, are the newest Doo hickeys from the last doo hickey die club, and the chicken wire is from MFT. I cut the bird Doo hickey tag apart, so that I could just use the birds at the top of my card, and I stuck the frilly edge of the tag part of the die just under Tilda's feet!

So there you go.... I hope we get to see your gorgeous creations for Valentines - but remember, no red allowed on your card!!

Sweet Birthday Girl

HI!!!

It's time for another Magnolia Down Under Challenge! This fortnight's theme is BINGO. Lots of Fun.

All you have to do is pick three things which form a line and make a card accordingly! Kylie has made a really cool game board which I'm sure you'll love!

My card is for Ruby, not my Ruby, but her friend Ruby, who is had her 6th Birthday party last weekend. I have used an older Tilda - Tilda with Corkscrews from the Once Upon a Time Collection in 2013, my Flower Cloud is from the With Love collection 2013.

I've coloured her up with my copics and tried to do some folds in her dress but, alas I'm rather rusty with my copics, but I guess it doesn't look too bad!

As per the Bingo game board, I picked - Fancy Folds so I made a gate fold card. I haven't made one of these for a while, but I love how it turns out. I also picked Masking, so of course Tilda and the Cloud has that covered. The other is Make your own embellishments! WOW! that was fun, but yeah took a while! Anyway I made all my flowers. The Dies I used are Memory Box Cherry Blossom, and a little flower Doo Hickey. My Key is also a Doo Hickey and its from the last Doo Hickey Club 3 that came out just before Christmas. I cut it 3 times to make it thicker and stand out a little more, plus it makes it stronger for the string to be tied on!

My Tulle trim is from Live and Love Crafts, the ribbon is seam binding. The little wooden heart is also from Live and Love Crafts. My Number is a Thickers sticker and the little letter tile stickers are from Tim Holtz. I've used my Spellbinder dies on there too.

Here is the inside:

I've used the Butterfly dies from Spellbinder to make the lovely butterflies. I've used gold glitter card for the top layer and some blue pattered paper for the bottom. My Papers I used are Prima Delight.

So there you go! I hope you will come along and play too, its heaps of fun and here is the game board.

Happy New Year 2015

Hi There!!

Hope you have all got over your new year celebrations without too many headaches! I didn't see in the new year.... I was in dreamland LOL

Yesterday I did some playing around with my Prima Doll stamps.... I love these little gals and how versatile they are. So I made a tag.
This is actually my second tag using these cute stamps but I'll show the one I did yesterday first and then my first Prima Doll tag below (I actually made it last year... but oh well, I haven't blogged it yet!)

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! I've used a bunch of different things on my tag, lets see: Jo Sonja texture paste, and Finnabair Texture Paste in gold crackle. Hessian/burlap, white rose trim, pink pom pom trim, Prima flowers, as well as a couple I had lying around on my desk! Prima resin butterfly, Prima zip pull, Tim Holtz film strip, pearls, a pearl swirl, Doily, chippy wings, MFT chicken wire die, pink seam binding, and a fluffy stringy trim. The words are from Collections Elements. My paper piecing is with Crate Paper fourteen. Oh my Stencils I used with the texture paste are Tim Holtz too.

And here is my first Prima Doll tag, I was pretty happy with how this one turned out too, but I think I like the one I made yesterday better now!

So this one has a bunch of stuff on it too: MFT Chicken wire die, and Memory Box die, Peacock feathers,(yeah the baby feathers from a peacock) Collections Elements words, Lace, Pearl Trim, Prima Flowers, pink ribbon, Tim Holtz washi tape, Finnabair texture paint in white sand. The stencil was burlap by Tim Holtz. My rusty heart is from Live and Love Crafts and I tied linen tread around it. There is some cheese cloth on there as well. The Eiffel Tower pic is a random - not sure who made those, but I bought a packet with all these cool pic's in it from my local scrap shop. I think they are intended for cards as a topper, but they pretty cool I think they can be used anywhere!

So there you go, something a little different from me! Well not really, I feel I am drifting back to my scrappy layout days which is originally why I got into paper crafting. I'm thinking in 2015 your going to see less cards and more layouts - tags - all sorts really on my blog! Maybe even some full on mixed media, I'm thinking about giving that a go, but I'm a little scared on how its going to turn out! I really want some Faber Castell Gelatos - which I do have in my basket from Anna's Craft Cupboard - I'm thinking I might have to check out and get it on its way to my hot little hands LOL

Happy Summer Days!
