Aussie Girls SMASH* Blog Hop

Hi There, and Welcome

A few of us Aussie girls are making a little blog hop for you to wander along on - it's all about SMASH*ing.... what's SMASH* ??? Well basically it's anything you want it to be:-)

For me - my SMASH* book is a bit like a journal a bit like a scrapbook... a SMASH*book!  SMASH* is designed by K&Company (if you click on the link it will show you a bunch of products) It's really starting to make a huge jump in popularity - you may have heard a bit about it - but today after this hop you know all about it!!!

I'm actually your last stop in the hop - so if you would like to start at the Beginning then jump on over to EMMA's Fantabulous blog HERE

If you are already hopping along - then you must have come from Angie's Blog HERE  so welcome to my blog... as I said before I'm your last stop - so I hope you have enjoyed what you have seen and will wanna take up SMASH* too:-)

I have a couple of pages from when I went to Brisbane recently to the Brisbane Paper Craft and Scrap booking show... I met Irina and Eric from La La Land - which was so awesome, and as you can see me and my fellow La La Land Design Team members had a ball.... so here you go - here is a peak into my SMASH* Book - btw I have the Black Folio:-)

And here is the other side - it's a double feature - so to speak hahahah - anyway as you can still see we had a great time, and I can't believe it was just a couple of weeks ago....  the little faces on sticks are the rest of the DT who are scattered all over the world... so we wanted a group photo... and this is what we came up with hahahahahaha

In case your wondering - Debbie P made the beautiful sashes!!!  Anyway that is my SMASH* as I said it's a bit of a SMASH*book... hehehehe but I might change on some different pages and do something different!! Because I can - there is no right and no wrong

Here is the full list of the girls on the Aussie Girl SMASH* Blog hop in case you would like to go back and check out them again....

KAREN (ME)

There is a couple of awesome Face Book SMASH* groups too, if you wanna join - you will soon be SMASH*ing along like everyone else:-) here's the links:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/371072989606971/ for the Closed group if you prefer:-)

Fun in the Sun at La La Land Crafts

Hi Hi Everyone

Well it's time for a bit of Hula fun at La La Land.. well actually the theme this week is: FUN in the SUN... but what's better than Hula Marci in the sun???

I've used a bunch of the super cool La La Land Crafts new dies... Ooooo they are so lovely!! I've used the palm tree and the Clouds, Sun and Island set.  I've used them in my Big Shot and I used a thick piece of card to help as a shim... my Big Shot is getting a little old and not as tight in the roller parts like it used to be... so if yours is a bit like that, then add a shim - it works a treat:-)

My paper's for my card are Amy Tangerine, so cute!! Anyway here is my card, I hope you love Hula Marci as much as me.... in fact she makes me wanna jump on a plane and head to Hawaii again.... bliss

So if you would like to see some more Fun in the Sun creations check out what Team Monday and the rest of Team Friday have made for you.... there is sure to be heaps of inspiration there for you all.  And once you have been inspired, upload your creations to this months La La Land Crafts Customer Gallery.... you could be this months winner!!!

Stamp: Hula Marci and Accessory stamp set available from La La Land Crafts
Dies: Palm Tree and Cloud, Sun and Island Set available from La La Land Crafts

Paper Play Time - Use a Die

Hi Hi Everyone!!

It's time for a new Paper Play theme and this week it's a really super duper easy one.... Use a Die but the challenge might actually be which Die you choose... hahahahha

So for my card, I've coloured up a sweet Saturated Canary, I can't remember what she is called though, I did try to find her name in the new Saturated Canary shop, but she wasn't there? Anyway She is looking so cute sitting, and I really wanted the image to be the main focus of this card, so I have not used much else apart from my dies:-)

So here she is I hope you love her as much as me:-)

I cut my die's out with Black Card, because it's really striking and really showcases them off don't you think?  My cute little butterfly is brand new Die from the La La Land Crafts - yes they do dies now too!! How cool!!  The other one is a Magnolia Doo Hickey... I've added some pearls to it:-)

So can't wait to see which dies you choose for your creations this week, I'm sure there will be some super awesome ones that I haven't seen before!! Happy creating everyone:-)

Image: Digi from Saturated Canary
Dies: Magnolia New Swirly Corner, La La Land Crafts Butterfly
Paper: Prima
Embellishments: Prima Lace, Prima Stickers, Half Pearls, Stickles and Sewing Machine

How to Use La La Land Craft Dies using a Grand Calibur

Hi Everyone

Today I am going to show you how to use the new La La Land Craft dies using a Spellbinder Grand Calibur machine.

This Machine is really easy to use, and I find it does a better job with thin dies than my Big Shot.  With the Grand Calibur there is no need for paper shims or anything like that... it's just a load, cut, and go!!

So today I'm using the Street Lamp Die, one of the Butterflies from the Butterfly Set 1 Die's, and the Filigree Corner Die - all of these dies are available now at La La Land Crafts or at your La La Land Crafts retailer in Australia.  (If you live in Australia or New Zealand, you can only buy the dies from your local store within Australia)

Okay, so first up, you need your Grand Calibur Machine, and two plates - Cutting Plate C and Base Plate A. Your dies and some card or paper

First lay down your dies, cutting side up onto your Base Plate A as shown below

The lay your card over the top of the dies, ensuring that you have the "right side" of the card facing down... if your using one sided patterned paper the pattern would be facing down.

Next lay your Cutting Plate C on the top of the dies and paper to make a sandwich. Then place it in your machine to roll through to cut the shapes.  I like to roll mine through the machine twice, just to make sure that all the pieces are cut correctly.

When you remove the cutting plate you can see that all the dies have cut through the black card stock and shown below.

When I remove the bulk of the paper I am left with my dies with the paper inside. It is really easy to remove the paper from the dies - simply by tipping them over... the paper should just fall out.  Well it does for me, most of the time...  but sometimes I have to use my paper die pick or a pin,  to help push it out. The dies have little holes on the back for just this job if you need to:-)

Now it's just a matter of removing the little cut bits from the die cut, then you will be left with your Street Lamp, Butterfly and Filigree Corner die cuts.... now it's time to put them on a card!!

This is my card that I used my die cuts on... It's Travel Marci. I have coloured her with my copic's and used some bright Amy Tangerine Paper to set her off.  My die cuts look so awesome in black, you can really see all the details of them:-)

Paper: Amy Tangerine - sketchbook
Embellishments: Ruffled Ribbon, Ric Rac, Bike Charm, Ribbon, String, Button, Sewing Machine.
Colour: Copic: Skin: E0000, E00, E11, R20. Hair: E11, E15, E18 Clothes and Luggage: RV63, RV66, RV69, C2, C4, C6, C0, BG0000, BG01, BG05, BG09.

Thanks for looking and I hope my Tutorial was helpful!!

There a Sketch in Tilda's Town this week

Well Howdy Folks!!

It's time for another super awesome Magnolia Challenge at Tilda's Town Challenges.... Gosh we are having so much fun, and seems like you all are too, we are so happy about the amount of people we have entering - so keep on entering.... we love seeing your cards!!

Anyway this week we have a really cool layers sketch that was created by Janneke - you can scroll down to see the sketch, anyway I've used some yummy papers from Prima Meadow Lark paper Pad, I've machine stitched them all together and then I put some paint on around the edges.  As it was drying I decided to give it a bit of shimmer with some Glimmer Mist in Blue.  Looks pretty in real life, but tricky to photograph in this somewhat icky weather that we had when I was trying to get a decent pic!!! Anyway here it is, I hope you love it as much as me:-)

And here is Janneke's Sketch - she is pretty clever huh?

Anyway thanks so much for looking, and remember with the sketch you can flip it, put it upside down or do what ever you want, but we must be able to see the structure of the sketch above - have fun!!! And if you would like some gorgeous inspiration - then look no further than the Tilda's Town Blog:-)
